Activities with branding impact established to deepen civic education, and mascot upgraded to promote municipal services

In his speech, Chao Wai Ieng stated that etiquette is a traditional virtue of the Chinese nation, as well as an essential foundation for modern urban governance and social harmony. This event aligns with the policies of the Government of the Special Administrative Region (SAR) to foster the integration of the spirit of loving the country and Macao into daily life, promote more diverse youth participation, and refine community governance. Furthermore, it directly addresses the clear objectives set out in the SAR’s “Third Five-Year Plan” which focus on enhancing civic quality and social civility, fostering the holistic development of young people, and building a high-quality, livable city, so that “courtesy” is not merely a slogan but a value integrated into everyday behaviours, collectively advancing the “city-wide courtesy, to be shared and passed on” initiative.

Through a series of interconnected and ongoing events with a branding impact, the “City-wide Courtesy” series of activities aim to deepen understanding of public etiquette, community services, municipal functions, and local culture. It seeks to spread the spirit of loving the country and Macao, raise awareness of urban beautification and civility in the local community, and foster a social environment characterised by respect, friendliness, and order. During the opening ceremony, an upgraded version of “KABO”, the mascot of IAM, appeared in various outfits representing the Bureau’s eight core functions, allowing the public to gain a more vivid and tangible understanding of the diverse municipal work highly relevant to their daily lives.

Diversified interactive experiences offered in 43 sessions of activities over two weeks to convey the spirit of courtesy

An interactive experience zone is set up at the activity venue.
